National Wellness Institute
Moving towards wellness in all things.
This year we are again collaborating with the National Wellness Institute (NWI). NWI is bringing a multi-dimensional approach to how everyday wellness can become a powerful force in living your life with diabetes.
Wellness is an active process that moves us toward a more fulfilling existence. The National Wellness Institute promotes Six Dimensions Of Wellness: emotional, occupational, physical, social, intellectual and spiritual. These dimensions work together, giving us a holistic sense of wellness in all areas of life. Mindfully incorporating wellness into our lives builds resilience and enables us to thrive amidst life’s challenges.
NWI offers an extensive number of tools and programs to promote wellness and wellbeing and is providing speakers and wellness topics at this year's conference. Learn about some of their programs and initiatives below.
The Six Dimensions of Wellness
Developed by Dr. Bill Hettler, co-founder of the National Wellness Institute (NWI), this interdependent model, commonly referred to as the Six Dimensions of Wellness, provides the categories from which NWI derives its resources and services.
By applying the Six Dimensional model, a person becomes aware of the interconnectedness of each dimension and how they contribute to healthy living.
The Mission of the National Wellness Institute (NWI) Multicultural Competency Committee is to support NWI with increasing inclusiveness by advancing multicultural competency within wellness best practices, and to assist with the development of knowledge, awareness and skills to deliver equitable and culturally- appropriate programs and services for wellness practitioners, organizations, underserved populations and communities.
